Bernedoodles

About the Bernedoodle...

The Bernedoodle is a companion dog, through and through. The breed inherits the intelligence of its Poodle parents and the charming, goofy, happy-go-lucky temperament of the Bernese Mountain Dog. Bernedoodles are happiest when they're spending time with their families, children included, and are willing participants in playtime and cuddle fests alike.

In addition to their personalities, Bernedoodles can differ in appearance. Their coats can be curly and wavy or straight and come in a variety of colors. They come in three sizes; tiny, miniature, and standard. These sizes are determined by the size of the Poodle parent, which can be toy, mini, or standard.

Bernedoodles are fairly adaptable and go with the flow. Smaller sized Bernedoodles make better apartment pets than Standard Bernedoodles, who do best with a yard to burn off energy. This breed has moderate exercise needs that are usually met with at least one long daily walk.

If you need a dog for the whole family, or if you're a single owner looking for a lovable, smart mixed-breed with good health that will put a smile on your face with their antics, you won't be able to find a much better choice than the Bernedoodle.

F1 Bernedoodle

This is the first generation of Bernedoodle, and it’s a Bernese Poodle mix (crossbreed between Bernese Mountain dog and the Standard Poodle breed). F1 Bernedoodle parent breeds are very intelligent, good hunters, and great family pets. So this breed generally shares these traits.

The first generation of this breed is natural hunters and water dogs. The Bernese Mountain Dog Poodle mix may look like a Bernese that is very hairy or a poodle that curls relaxed. However, this breed looks somewhere in between.

Their coat color can either be black and white, all black, brown, or a mix of any of those colors. This breed doesn’t shed much, and they are ideal for those that have allergies.

Features of F1 Bernedoodle

Grooming: Once or twice a week

Coat Description: The length of their fur can range from 4-8 inches.

Shedding: This breed is not excessive shedders

Non-Allergies: No

Life Span: 13-16 years

F1b Generation

The F1b means First Generation, while the “B” means the backcross of Bernedoodle. The F1b Bernedoodle is produced by crossing a poodle with an F1 Bernedoodle. This generation is 25% Bernese Mountain Dog and 75% Poodle.

They are healthier than their parent breed.

This breed is non-allergies because they don’t shed. Their coat is curly, and they can survive in the northern region. They are a great family dog because they are active, friendly, intelligent, and obedient. Since their coat is curly, it will require regular grooming to avoid matting.
